DIET Nabha is the leading institution for professional teacher training, offering a robust Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) program. Our mission is to empower individuals with the skills, confidence, and innovative mindset required to excel in the field of elementary education. WHO WE ARE

Established in 1953 by the PEPSU Government, the institute in Nabha was created to train teachers, initially offering short-term courses on basic teaching concepts. Soon after, it introduced the Junior Basic Teachers Training (JBT) course, which was expanded into a comprehensive two-year program in 1957. In 1970, due to a surplus of educators, the JBT course was temporarily suspended, and the institute reverted to providing short courses for in-service teachers. The JBT classes were reinstated in 1973 and ran until 1980. For the following decade, the institute focused exclusively on offering refresher courses for teachers from Patiala, Sangrur, and Fatehgarh Sahib. This long history of teacher education culminated in the 1989-90 session when the Government of Punjab officially upgraded the institute to the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Nabha, solidifying its important role in the region's educational development.
